The typical codes and conventions of film posters are.
· An eye catching image or images
· The title of the film
· A tagline for the film
· The names of well known people or key people to the film
· Critic review
· The production blurb
This film is a disaster movie; I figured this out by looking at the main image on the poster. The image is of a family, and they are in the middle of a road and the building and setting around them looks very distorted and wrong. Also the facial expressions on the people’s faces make them look very scared, and the women grabbing her child like she is protecting her/him. The blue colour in the poster also gives the effect that it isn’t going to be a very happy film…
By looking at the poster I can figure out that the storyline of the movie will obviously be the world ending in some way. I know this because the way the streets look, and if the disaster wasn’t going to affect the world the streets wouldn’t look like that.
The title Is very plain and simple, I think It’s designed so that it doesn’t take away any attention from the actual image in the poster.
The way the people look in the poster shows what sort of film it is going to be. They look scared.
The setting is a city, and the buildings are distorted making you wonder why and what is going to happen in the film.
This film would mainly appeal to older people , and maybe young adults but I don’t think teenagers and younger people would really be interested from looking at the poster. Also people might go and see the film because Mark Wahlberg is starring in it.
Twentieth century fox produced this film , it is major Hollywood company and they have produced many films such as;
